Ventoy raspberry pi11/25/2023 ![]() With ventoy, you dont need to format the disk over and over. ![]() The next step is to test SIFT workstation 5, Windows Server/Workstation as well as extracted VHD files from VMs to see if I encounter some problems, but so far it’s looking very nice.īonus finding: While looking into Ventoy I found that Techbench provides a nice interface to download Microsoft-hosted ISO files here. Ventoy is an open source tool to create bootable USB drive for ISO/WIM/IMG/VHD(x)/EFI files. I did see people bumping into legacy BIOS limitations when the USB used is too large (>137GB), but this is well understood and some workarounds exist. I tested the setup using Kali and a vanilla Ubuntu 20.04 image ( the latter caused some head scratching when it turned out to be corrupted and a GRUB shell appeared.) and everything basically worked out-of-the-box. ![]() It can be more compatible (most notably it boots on Intel Macs) and the generated GRUB menus. It works in a very different way: Iso files are partially extracted and integrated into a central boot menu. I've been using YUMI before Ventoy came out. L Label of the main partition (default is Ventoy ) Yumi EXE is only needed if you want to get fancy ( eg Ubuntu with persistence file). g use GPT partition style, default is MBR style (only for install ) s enable secure boot support (default is disabled ) r SIZE_MB preserve some space at the bottom of the disk (only for install ) I force install ventoy to sdX (no matter installed or not ) Rufus has other use cases: imaging distros for Raspberry Pi, and (especially handy). i install ventoy to sdX (fail if disk already installed with ventoy ) Ventoy is indeed one of the best (if not THE best) tool for this.
